Every month at ASCD I worked with our creative team to create and layout flyers that would promote a variety of subjects tailored to each month. Adobe InDesign was used for layout, photoshop for relevant imagery, and Illustrator for vector graphics.
Conference branding for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Volunteer Leadership Conference in Colorado. Our team created a 'city' concept that would highlight an aspect of the location thoughtfully within our design.
For Colorado, we highlighted the Rockies in a multifaceted way: a directional symbol in on-site signage, a symbolic image of adversity (in this case living and thriving with this disease), and as a meaningful attachment to the place of the event. Vinyl clings, meterboards, and a variety of printed and digital materials were created that reinforce this look and feel.
Editorial and book design are some of my favorite things to do. The printed page is fascinating and having something tactile is always a delight. The way typographic forms work in concert with each other is something I strive to accomplish in every piece I make, but none are so important as magazine and book covers where people do truly judge by its looks. Here are few examples of work, both live and mocks that I've created.
Infographics are an incredible resource for a wealth of information located in one central place. It stretches the designer's problem solving skills to ideate, condense, and execute eye-catching visual representations of dense data. I truly believe motion is the future, and have incorporated some level of interactivity or motion to some of these infographics.
Logos are an important toolkit in a designer's bag of holding. When developing logos I work closely with the client, research the intended space, and execute meaningful visual creations informed through insights and industry trends.
When finalizing logos, I prefer to make mockups of intended executions as well as provide as much versatility as possible to the client. Included here is a live case study of my logo process including ideation through execution.
When left to my own devices, I enjoy consuming a lot of pop culture in various forms from comic books to video games and anime. I used to be the co-lead of a pop culture podcast called, Pod Nerdy 2 Me where I designed the logo and the art for each episode we aired. I also learned how to edit audio, and even had a few Twitch livestreams where we played games in front of an audience. Each cover was made by acquiring assets and photoshopped to emulate the look and feel of the source. Here are some of my favorite covers.
Being a person of color, representation is incredibly important, not just for visibility, but to make sure that visual depictions do not reinforce stereotypes or tokenization, but are meaningful to their respective groups. At CF Foundation we are a small team, but we work closely with various Employee Resource Groups to make sure they are adequately represented wholy and meaningfully.
Here are pieces of creative that were used for recognition months in close work with each group to appropriately brand each month in connection with the CF Foundation parent brand.
Working at the social media marketing agency, MXM, I had the opportunity to juggle multiple franchises from Sharknado for SYFY to The Walking Dead for AMC. This has assisted in my ability to ideate, manage, and execute a variety of creative assets in a high speed environment. Programs utilized were Adobe Photoshop and video editing tools to create image macros and gifs.
While pursuing my Masters in Graphic Design, I was able to take courses in web design learning how to use html and css for design, as well as wireframing and mocking up using sketch and Adobe XD. I've utilized this skill at my current occupation and would like to continue to cultivate this and learn more. Here is an example of a final project for an Advanced Web Design course where I created a store front with branding and logo, wire-framing, templating, and executing multiple pages taking in mind desktop and mobile formats.
